The fifth Baltic Beer Star 2017 competition-degustation in beer, kvass and malt drinks has finished. In the competition Bauska brewery got to take home one gold medal and three silver medals. In the group of mixed beers, silver medal was received by Light beer drink “Festiņš” with lingonberry flavour (“Alus kokteilis Festiņš brūklene”). In the kvass and malt drinks group, the brewery won silver medals for the hibiscus-flavoured version of it’s Dr Kombucha fermented tea fungus drink and for it’s naturally-fermented Kvass.  It was in this latter category that Bauska Brewery was also awarded a gold medal for the fermented tea drink ‘Dr. Kombucha’.

 

“It’s the fifth time we’ve participated in this competition and we are thrilled to know that our products are not only appreciated by consumers , but also by respected professionals in our field. We’re especially proud of our ‘Dr Kombucha’ fermented tea fungus drinks (“Tējas sēnes dzēriens Dr. Kombucha” and “Tējas sēnes dzēriens Dr. Kombucha karkade”) , which received gold and silver awards and we are very pleased that the jury recognized the great taste of “Festiņš” (“Alus kokteilis Festiņš brūklene”), the flavoursome light beer, that has won the hearts of our customers far and wide,“  said Vladimir Barskov , chairman of “Bauskas alus.” .

In this year’s competition special attention was paid to quality and compliance to international requirements and the exceptional winning beverages will certainly boost the profile of Latvian national beer, beer drinks, non-alcoholic malt-based and naturally fermented drinks and kvass. In all, the medals were won by 37 products, out of those 8 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals were awarded.

 

Competition is organized by beer, malt drinks, and kvass society ‘’The Beer brotherhood’’ («Alus brālība») in cooperation with The Latvian Brewers’ Association.
