2017 was a very rewarding year for Bauska Brewery. At the end of 2017, the brewery proudly released the beer ‘Latvian 100’ (“Latvijas 100”), as a gift to Latvia to commemorate the country’s 100th birthday. 2017 saw Bauska Brewery’s sales volume in dcl of it’s non-alcoholic beverages increase by 4.9% and it’s beer sales volume increase by 1.4%, compared to 2016 . Sales volume in dcl of Bauska’s light beer (‘Bauskas Gaišais alus’) 0.5l increased by 10% and of the dark beer Premium (‘Bauskas Tumšais alus’) 0.5l increased by 31% over the previous year.
“2017 was indeed a successful one for Bauska Brewery. The sales volume spikes in our light beer and our dark beer Premium, indicate that consumers are seeking out and valuing high-quality products. Throughout 2017 we never stopped innovating in order to be able to offer our beer lovers different beer styles and flavour profiles. It was through months of consistent effort and determination, trialling various types of hop and malt, that we were able to arrive at a very special recipe to honour the anniversary of Latvia . That recipe resulted in the new Premium light beer ’Latvian 100’ . The colours, incorporated in the distinctive ’Latvian 100’ label, resemble those of the Latvian national flag and suggest a certain magnificence and abundance evocative of Latvia and of the full-bodied beer, created especially for the country. ’Latvian 100’ is currently available in the company store ,Miestņš un citi labumi’ in Bauska and we hope it will be in all major trading chains nationwide by spring “, said SIA “Bauskas alus” board member, Vladimir Barskov.
“I am proud that we have been able to create a great gift for Latvia by doing what we do best - beer-brewing. The new premium light beer ’Latvian 100’, which we worked at for a very long time is abundant and full-bodied. I am extremely glad that my successors have such a strong sense of responsibility towards their work, as they formulate new beers and I am glad that they allow me to collaborate with them. I think we have succeeded with this beer and now it is up to beer enthusiasts to assess it,“ announced Kārlis Zālītis ,who at 91 is the oldest brewer in Latvia and works to this day for Bauska Brewery .
“Bauska Brewery produces the fermented tea fungus drink, known as ‘Dr. Kombucha’. ‘Dr Kombucha Karkade’ is a hibiscus-flavoured , lightly effervescent sweetened tea with a slightly sour taste. Kombucha Tea had been a drink made at home. We were the first in the Baltics to produce it commercially and we couldn’t be happier that the sales volume in dcl of ‘Dr Kombucha’ and ‘Dr. Kombucha Karkade’ has risen by 60 % compared to 2016 “, revealed Daiga Solzemniece, Commercial Director of SIA Bauskas alus .
Bauska Brewery invested 620 thousand euros in the development of it’s manufacturing facility in 2017 and is confident and excited about the potential this will unleash going forward .
